The process of composition is like taking a journey of
self-discovery. Each piece presents new opportunities and
challenges. It forces the composer to search his soul to tell his
story through the emotions he experiences. In one piece he may
march off to battle while in another he embraces a lover. In order
to communicate such feeling a composer has to exercise his most
strenuous rational judgement to determine how to shape the music
for his own purpose. Every instrument, note, chord, line, etc.
counts with every decision made in relation to the theme of his
composition.
The process of composing is fraught
with difficulty and does not happen overnight, but it is more than
worth the trouble in the end.
